In today’s ET article, we note that despite flattish headline indices over the past year, investors are feeling the pain already. A fourth of BSE 500 cos have fallen over 30% in the past year, some 200 (of 500) companies have underperformed the Index since Covid, and 30 businesses (some of them were market darlings) are close to Covid lows.

We take a closer look at why and how the sector cycles have become prominent by examining the profitability and market performance over the past decade.
